Spending analytics

Track where your money goes with real-time charts and detailed breakdowns. Eloope's analytics dashboard helps you spot trends, identify top spending categories, and monitor budget usage.

Open analytics

  1. Click Analytics in the left sidebar.
  2. The dashboard loads with your spending data for the current month by default.

Dashboard widgets and charts

The analytics dashboard displays multiple widgets and chart types:

  • Summary cards: Key metrics including Total Expenses (amount and count), Pending Approvals, Outstanding Advances, Average Expense Amount, Budget vs. Actual comparison, and Policy Compliance Rate.
  • Spending by category: A pie or donut chart breaking down expenses across categories. Hover to see exact amounts and percentages.
  • Spending over time: A bar, line, or area chart plotting spending across days, weeks, or months.
  • Category performance: Horizontal bar charts comparing spending across categories.
  • Budget vs. actual: Grouped bar charts showing allocated budget against actual spending by department or cost center.
  • Top spenders: Rankings of highest-spending users or departments.
  • Radial/gauge charts: Progress indicators for budget utilization.

All charts feature responsive design, smooth animations, custom tooltips with formatted currency amounts, and support for both light and dark modes.

Filters

Use the filter controls at the top of the analytics page to refine your view:

  • Date range: Choose from presets (This Month, 7D, 30D, Last Month, This Quarter, Last 3 Months, Year-to-Date) or set a custom date range.
  • Currency: Select which currency to display amounts in (important for multi-currency organizations).
  • Employee: Filter by specific team members.
  • Department: Filter by department.
  • Category: Filter by expense category.

All charts and widgets update automatically when you change filters.

Export options

  • Chart export: Click the export button on any chart to download it as a PNG image.
  • Data export: Download the underlying data as a CSV file for external analysis.
  • Dashboard export: Export the full dashboard as a PDF.

What you see depends on your role

Your analytics view adapts to your role in the organization:

  • Employees see their own personal spending data.
  • Managers see their own spending plus a team spending section that aggregates data for their direct reports.
  • Finance and Admin users see organization-wide spending across all departments and employees.

Note: If you manage multiple teams, use the team selector dropdown to switch between groups.

Dark mode

All charts and visualizations support dark mode. Toggle dark mode from your profile settings or your system preferences. Charts automatically adjust colors and contrast for readability.

Tips for using analytics

  • Review weekly to catch unusual spending before it becomes a problem.
  • Compare periods by switching between "This month" and "Last month" to identify changes.
  • Use Table View to drill into specific categories and find your highest-cost expenses.
  • Export and share charts with leadership to support budget conversations.
